Unfortunately, Ian is suffering from a severe throat infection and is unable to undertake his shows at Ronnie Scott's on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th of June. These shows will be rescheduled for later in the year. The wonderful Claire Martin has stepped in at very short notice to perform at all four shows.
Here is Ian's note from earlier this morning, Friday 4th June.
“Hello to all fans and friends of Ronnie Scott's. Ian Shaw here. It's Friday morning and I've woken up with zero voice. Having just eased myself back into doing what I love best – singing. The last two weeks, I've been on the road, done a BBC session... but the biggest thrill was returning to Ronnies to do these four shows. And after a rotten cold (the first since Xmas 2019!) the tools have escaped the box. I asked my amazing singing friend, Claire Martin, would she join my ace band for these shows, starting tonight. Miraculously she's free. I can think of nobody better to give you the very best evening ever. She was one of Ronnie's absolute favourites. Please continue to support my spiritual home, Ronnie Scott's – and its fantastic return to the live music scene. I'll see you there very soon, when my voice returns to its full roar. Lots of love to you all, Ian Shaw x”

Ian writes: “Travelling to Manchester tomorrow to rehearse with the brilliant players of the Psappha ensemble. It's an exciting evening's programme. The composer Mark-Anthony Turnage was commissioned for me to sing his setting of Black Milk.
“It's based on the 1945 Paul Celan poem that draws on his vivid and gut-wrenchingly honest and guilty reaction to the horrors of the Holocaust. Despite their son's pleas for Fritzi and Leo to go into hiding, both parents died at an internment camp. Celan held this grief and guilt until his death in 1970.
“The resonance of this work echoes hugely the ignorant fear and othering that marginalises and displaces to this day.
“We were to premiere Black Milk exactly a year ago. You can watch it on Thursday at 7pm – as we perform this brand new work live, at last.”
